Rolling Loud Manages To Rid Itself Of Last Year's Hiccups

... Uzi Vert spent most of the time jumping on speakers to give the crowd a better view of his show. He, too, jumped into the crowd for a surf session and ended his set shirtless, which we could have done without. Toronto artist Jazz Cartier took his performance to new heights by climbing the side of the stage and swinging from the support beams. It was one of the best sets — hands down — on the Sauce stage. He took crowd-surfing to a whole new level. Like Jesus walking on water, Jazz Cartier walked on his crowd, his fans holding his feet up while he walked over them and finished his set. Jazz Cartier channels his inner Christ. Photo by Amadeus Mc Caskill. Ty Dolla Sign sang four tracks to a somewhat uninterested crowd of over 10,000 people, who remained uninterested until he brought out Jeremih. He took over the end of Ty's slot with his hit ...

... Kay Jewelers. “He (good Samaritan) had a concealed carry license. He shot the suspect who shot the good Samaritan trying to intervene,” Mc Manus said. The robber who was shot was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center. The other robber fled. “The second suspect, when the shooting started, he ran through the mall in the other direction, shooting as he ran,” Mc Manus said. “There were several shots. I mean, it was pop, pop, like, bang, like, real loud bangs,” said Benjamin Arsate, who was inside the mall during the shooting. “So you can imagine all the people in the mall, all the people sheltering in place,” said San Antonio fire Chief Charles Hood. Among the people hidden was a couple's teenage daughter, an employee at J. C. Penney's, who had been texting her mother from where she and others were hiding. “She did say she's around ...

New Pat Perez Returns To Torrey
New Pat Perez Returns To Torrey

... That’s a remarkable kind of consistency that has him $7,157 from reaching $19 million in career earnings. “Anybody can talk all the (expletive) they want,” Perez said. “The bottom line is I’ve been out here every year straight. Not a lot of guys do that.”. Perez, who is three shots behind leader Justin Rose , sank six birdies and lipped at least three other putts that could have driven his score lower. A double-bogey on No. 6 (his group’s 15 th), when he took two shots to get out of the sand, kept him from being closer to the top of the leaderboard at day’s end. Still, he followed that bad hole with a birdie-par-birdie finish and will start Friday in a cluster tied for eighth. Perez is, at best, San Diego’s other golfer. That was manifest Thursday when his group headed down the 14 th fairway, a gallery of 19 people in tow walking through a throng of hundreds headed the opposite way as it followed Phil Mickelson. But perhaps Perez’s resurgence and his loyalty should earn him more attention this week. Whereas Mickelson, a ...

Rappers Who Paid To Be On Rolling Loud Lineup Say They Didn't Get Their Money's Worth

Signage at the festival didn't include the Citrus Stage. Photo by Amadeus Mc Caskill. Citrus Rap did not respond to enquiries for comment. Not all performers on the Citrus Stage were bothered by the pay-to-play model. Vincent Sarkis, a Miami-born, Las Vegas-based rapper who goes by. MF, works with a production company in Las Vegas and sympathizes with the plight of production companies and sponsors to promote non-marquee acts. “I know you hear it all the time: the rap game is fucked up — but, the rap game really is fucked up,” Sarkis says. “When you’re popping, you get the offers. When you’re not, you gotta offer.”. Both Sarkis and Cameron say they were happy to pay to perform if it meant being exposed to a wider audience and enjoying the privileges that come with being a performing artist at a major hip-hop festival. Instead, independent performers were denied entry through the exclusive artist entrance and weren't allowed re-entry, forcing them to linger in the ...

Rolling Loud Is For The Kids
Rolling Loud Is For The Kids

... of course you’re paying to see them all. The major festival experience is, broadly speaking, a drug picnic in the grass, with perpetual musical accompaniment you tune into occasionally. My last time at Governors Ball, in New York, involved missing the only act I really wanted to see (Future) while I waited in line for security to check my bag. When I finally got in, I drank for five hours to kill time until Drake arrived. There has to be some kind of a middle ground between seeing a single act at a small venue and seeing every touring act in the music industry. For the Sound Cloud rapper generation, that middle ground is Rolling Loud  in Miami, which just wrapped up its second year this past weekend at Mana Wynwood and hit capacity with 15,000 people in attendance. What’s compelling about Rolling Loud is that the lineup coheres. There were two headliners: Young Thug and Future. Lil B played just before Future on the second night, but on a separate stage, so we’ll say he headlined, too. Obviously their fans overlap, but the headliners also serve as umbrellas for almost every other act on the bill ...

Atlanta’s own 2 Chainz blessed the crowd with his classics early followed by Freebandz/Epic signee Zoey Dollaz, newcomer Kap G, and Palm Beach natives Wifisfuneral with tunes from 103.5 The Beat’s DJ Epps and DJ Bulletproof in between each set. Rolling Loud Festival Promises To Do Better This Year

... in performances on the main stage, frizz to freshly done hairstyles, and damage to everyone's kicks. But this year. of Dope Entertainment — Matt Zingler and Tariq Cherif — say the second-annual Rolling Loud Festival will be better than last. Miami's Best Concert of the Week: Rolling Loud Festival at Mana Wynwood. To start, the two have a stronger plan to deal with inclement weather. Last year, thanks to the rain, a few independent artists didn't get a chance to perform, sets on the main stage were pushed back, and everyone was just soaking wet — and not in a good way. But Cherif says that this time, they'll have a tent to end all tents. "We're bringing in a structure so big, I wouldn't call it. Action Bronson at last year's Rolling Loud. Photo by Alex Markow. Security will be beefed up too, Cherif says. "We're using the same security and ticketing company as Ultra to ensure entry and exit will be a lot smoother." Zingler and Cherif are confident that the long lines that plagued last year's fest won't be an issue in 2016. Inside, performances will run smoother too, they hope. "The stages will have ...

... "It was like bashing, and we looked and that's when we saw one of [the suspects] try to smash one of the ring cases," Aimee recalled. She said that the two men were getting frustrated because the glass case wouldn't break easily. "The other guy was waving his gun around and yelling something. I don't know what he was even yelling," she said. Aimee noted that each suspect then ran out of the store in opposite directions as Jon shielded her. "Jon wasn't running or anything. He just kind of whipped around me and the guy just started shooting him and I just watched him fall," she said. "Seriously, the only thing between me and the shooter at that point when bullets were flying was Jon. He is the only reason I was not hit.". Did Meteor Cause The Boom
Did Meteor Cause The Boom

... Craig said. "It's pretty straight forward. This was a meteor.". Swanson and his wife installed a camera in their newborn's nursery months ago, and put one outside for home security. To think their video captured images of a meteor and answered a questioned posed by many was pretty phenomenal, he said. "It's pretty fascinating," he said. During his decades in the field, Craig says he's seen numerous photos and videos of meteors. He's also seen them first-hand, though the one on Swanson's video is brighter than he's seen with his own eyes. While the meteor can be seen breaking apart in Huntersville, it's quite possible the sound could be heard in Mount Holly. And just because the meteor broke apart, doesn't mean any sizable pieces would hit the ground, Craig said. The action typically happens at least 25 miles or higher above the earth, Craig said. Mount Holly residents have been asking questions about a series of ...

Rolling Loud Moves To Bayfront Park, Expands To Three Days
Rolling Loud Moves To Bayfront Park, Expands To Three Days

... Cherif tells New Times via email. “Bayfront is a venue we'll be able to grow within for years to come. And, no, Zika didn't have anything to do with it.”. Related Stories. Rolling Loud Festival Promises to Do Better This Year. Last year, the festival took place at Mana Wynwood (the home of III Points) with fewer  bumps and bruises than its inaugural year. With Yes Julz as the hostess, hip-hop’s biggest stars flocked to Dade County. A few of the stars in attendance included Future, 2 Chainz, Young Thug (or should we say “Jeffery” ), Curren$y, Zoey Dollaz, and Kodak Black, while hometown heroes in the Miami rap scene like Kent Jones, Pouya, Fat Nick, and Yung Simmie dominated the secondary stage. After the event reached capacity both days, however, Dope Ent. felt it was necessary to find a new home. With the new, bigger space will come an increase in ticket prices, but it’s not just because of the new venue. According to Cherif, the two-day event will now be a three-day affair, much like Ultra Music ...
