... that salary , because it’s wholly out of whack with the current running back market. Peterson is a future Hall of Fame back, a dominant runner who is one of the best backs the NFL has ever seen. But he’s on the wrong side of 30 and he hasn’t been healthy or productive the last few years. “I think he has some football left in him,’ Carter added. “I think football is a game that’s very, very hard if you don’t practice. Adrian hasn’t practiced a lot the last two years, so I think it’s affected his overall ability to be effective in the game.’. AP has made it no secret he wants to keep playing, but he’s going to have to take a serious paycut if he wants to play. Even a team like the Raiders , who Peterson has identified as a club he would want to play for , have shown more interest in trying to lure Marshawn Lynch out of retirement than they have trying to land Peterson in free agency. That’s a major red flag. So is the fact that Peterson would be willing to take a team-friendly deal to play for the Patriots , only the Patriots probably aren’t interested in bringing him in. ...

... several years on a contract averaging more than $14 million per year. It’s easy for Peterson to say he isn’t in rush because he probably doesn’t have much of a choice about being patient. The most lucrative running back contracts in free agency last offseason had less than $9 million in the first year. Lamar Miller , Doug Martin and Chris Ivory had first-year compensation of $8.5 million, $8 million and $7.5 million in long-term deals averaging $6.5 million, $7.15 million and $6.4 million per year. Free agency is a fluid process where players must adapt to changing market conditions. Peterson might be having a difficult time accepting the financial climate with running backs. Eddie Lacy and Latavius Murray , both entering free agency after completing rookie contracts, helped define the market for ball carriers. Murray is essentially replacing Peterson in Minnesota. His three-year deal has a base value of $15 million where $3.6 million is fully guaranteed at signing and $4.25 million is in the first year. Lacy took a one-year deal from the Seattle Seahawks for $4.25 million that can be worth as much as $5.55 million through incentives. Adrian Peterson, 32, is an older, ...

... Coach Mike Mc Carthy said everything remains on the table, including the draft and the remaining veteran free agents, to fill the Packers’ needs. They currently have just two running backs on the roster: converted receiver Ty Montgomery and Christine Michael. Adrian Peterson, who typically doesn't play on third down, may not be a fit for the Packers' no-huddle offense. Greg Mc Williams/Icon Sportswire. “I think you look at all those guys,” Mc Carthy told reporters Wednesday at the NFL owners meetings in Phoenix. “It’s no secret what’s available in the draft. The numbers are really good there. Personally, I think the world of Adrian. I think he’s obviously a great player, a Hall of Fame player. ... be choosy about his landing spot (Tampa? Green Bay? The Giants?), and openly refuting reports that his asking price was far too high. If Peterson were a more sympathetic figure (and by now, you know all the reasons why he isn’t), he would make a perfect example of how the current collective bargaining agreement is screwing players over , with rookies hogtied to below-market deals and quality veterans offered nothing but de facto one-year contracts. But this is Adrian Peterson, and so it’s more complicated than that. Adrian Peterson is the greatest running back in my team’s history. NO ONE DENIES THIS. In fact, he is probably the best (excuse the cliché) pure runner I’ve ever seen. Maybe your tastes lean toward Barry Sanders, or Walter Payton, or Jim Brown, or Bo Jackson, and I’m not here to start a bar argument. If you have a different GOAT, that’s fine. Peterson couldn’t block, or catch, or work out of the shotgun, or hold onto the ball, or restrain himself from whipping a child in the gonads. But goddamn, could he run. And, despite his age and injury history, perhaps he still can. Peterson is not like ordinary running backs who flame out after a ...

... which would have paid him $18 million, including a $6 million roster bonus. He tweeted last month that he is in no rush to sign with a new team and said his decision isn't just about money; signing with a championship-contending team will factor in his decision. — Adrian Peterson (@Adrian Peterson) March 25, 2017. Peterson, 32, played just three games last season because of a torn meniscus suffered on Sept. 18. He carried 37 times for 72 yards last season, returning in less than three months from his injury to play against the Colts on Dec. 18. However, he sat out the Vikings' final two games because of an adductor strain he suffered in his first game back. Peterson, whose career rushing yards rank second to Frank Gore among active players, has failed to eclipse 40 carries in two of the past three seasons because of suspension and injuries. Even with his league-leading 1,485 rushing yards in 2015, and factoring in his receiving totals, Peterson cost the Vikings about $18,000 per yard over the last three years. However, there are few players, if any, that can match his outsized influence on a game. ... was thrilled to hear the news that he made the roster (video by Jeff Wilson). The experts love the Houston Astros , however. They ignore the fact that the Astros were a third-place team in 2016 and think that, with all of its new additions, Team Nolan has the beef this time to go all the way. Gotta admit, I’m curious to see how Yulieski Gurriel’s continued adaptation to MLB is going to go. I like the addition of Josh Reddick to the Houston outfield, but picking up Norichika Aoki, not so much. Didn’t the Mariners waive him. The Astros have also added catcher Brian Mc Cann and designated hitter Carlos Beltran. Mc Cann hit.235 last season, was losing his job in New York, and the Yankees traded him. Beltran, who turns 40 in three weeks, spent two months with the Rangers at the end of last season and signed a drunken-sailor-like $16-million free agent contract with Houston. Indeed, Houston should be better this season. They’ve made some upgrades. The websites and the TV guys love upgrades. Uh, OK. But if the combination of Jonathan Lucroy ...

... Reserve Bank of Dallas warns that rising housing costs are cutting into the Lone Star State’s traditional cost of living advantage in attracting business relocations. A new report shows that average apartment rents in Dallas-Fort Worth are now about $20 a month higher than the national average. Home prices in the area hit record highs last year, and median prices in February were nearly $8,000 higher than the nationwide median. But on Monday night, O’Reilly kicked off his show with a report on the Senate fight over Neil Gorsuch’s nomination to the Supreme Court. And throughout the program, it was business as usual, with coverage of familiar themes like the media supposedly being biased against President Donald Trump , and liberalism run amok on college campuses. O’Reilly closed the show by highlighting his donation to a child-health charity. The 8 p.m. broadcast was O’Reilly’s first since The New York Times reported Saturday that five women, including Mackris, received $13 million in settlements from lawsuits accusing O’Reilly of sexual harassment or other inappropriate behavior. Because he compared two black people?”. Tanden then deflected to another controversy from this week, sparked by Spicer telling veteran White House reporter April Ryan, who is black, to stop shaking her head. ... an episode of your Fox “News” program where you did not call someone a “pinhead,” or a “far-left loon”. Last week, you attacked Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA). In an appearance on Fox’s morning show, you responded as follows to a clip of her criticizing supporters of Donald Trump: “I didn’t hear a word she said. I was looking at the James Brown wig.”. Waters, a fierce woman I call “Mad Max,” certainly doesn’t need me to defend her — or her coiffure. But I can’t help noting that you seem particularly quick to insult when discussing African Americans. Remember last year, when you told Trump black people can’t find work because “many of them are ill-educated and have tattoos on their foreheads”? It was a slander calculated to make nearly 40 million people seem unworthy, not simply of employment, but even of respect. I’m tempted to respond in kind. There’s surely no shortage of ammunition. I could call you a lousy excuse for a reporter who wouldn’t know a fact if it bit him on the butt after a career filled with spectacular errors, including that book of yours that places Abraham ...

Things devolved on "Fox & Friends" after O'Reilly's statement, with co-host Brian Kilmeade quickly agreeing with O'Reilly, saying, "It's the same one" and referencing the fact that Brown is dead. Co-host Ainsley Earhardt tried to improve the situation with (arguably a misguided) understanding of feminism, stating, "You can't go after a woman's looks. I think she's very attractive.". When the men agreed on Waters' looks, O'Reilly stands by the hair comparison, which leads Earhardt to state that Brown "had girl hair.". No surprise, the Internet was incensed over the exchange. O'Reilly released a statement several hours after the segment aired and apologized for his comments. "As I have said many times, I respect Congresswoman Maxine Waters for being sincere in her beliefs. I said that again today on 'Fox & Friends,' calling her old school. Unfortunately, I also made a jest about her hair, which ...

Gonzaga University was going up against some of the big powerhouses in college boxing, such as Penn State and Michigan State. Gonzaga was clearly an underdog. Some of the big schools had five qualifiers, but Gonzaga’s coach Joey August had only three: Carl Maxey, Eli Thomas and Jim Reilly.
