Did Ben Carson Say That Illegal Immigrants Caught Voting Should Lose Their U.s. Citizenship
... Dr. Carson wrote that “anyone” (rather than “illegal immigrants”) involved in voter fraud should be deported and stripped of citizenship, the context in which the sentence appeared clearly suggested the word “anyone” referred specifically to (illegal) immigrants. The bolded sentence appeared on WND when the article was originally published on 11 November 2014 but was later removed and does not currently appear in the online version. According to archived versions of the page, the sentence was removed within a few days of publication. Although Dr. Carson’s gaffe may have been quickly scrubbed by WND, web sites such as MSNBC documented the curious statement prior to its removal. Of course, Carson’s edict doesn’t make sense: If these are non-citizens, as the context suggests, how can they have their citizenship revoked? If they’re citizens, where are they being deported to. While one could argue that the statement was a simple mistake that was quickly corrected, it should be noted that the same sentence also appeared in Carson’s 2015 book What I ...

"That people had aspirations for their children regardless of how they were brought to the United States was certainly true," Scott said. "Their capacity to see their aspirations realized was starkly limited by slavery.". Carson spoke to HUD employees as he began his first full week leading the department. The Senate confirmed him last week. The agency, with a budget of about $47 billion, provides housing assistance to low-income people through vouchers and public housing, enforces fair housing laws and provides development block grants to communities. In his speech to a standing-room-only audience, Carson pledged to lead HUD with a "very big emphasis on fairness for everybody. Everything that we do, every policy. No ...
Ben Carson Is Ready To Work. Senate, Drop The Politics And Do Your Job
... aren't the politicians; they are the poorest among us who depend on stable leadership by the federal government to provide critical housing assistance. When will the Senate FINALLY vote to confirm @Real Ben Carson approved unanimously almost 3 WEEKS AGO? Why the DELAY on HUD? @Senate Maj Ldr __link__/t 5 l Hgt Wqvr. — Conservative Lisa (@Lisa 4 OR 1 st) February 14, 2017. For weeks now, the 8,500 HUD employees have gone without a leader. As the $48 billion dollar a year department drifts, important challenges go unmet and lives become negatively impacted. Senate Democratic leadership is sabotaging the ability of HUD to play a meaningful role in the lives of our least well off neighbors. The reason that Carson is being held up is because he is collateral damage to a larger political game that is playing out in Washington. Senate Democrats are angry with Trump about decisions that have nothing to do with HUD or housing: executive orders on immigration, the Keystone pipeline and other matters. They seek retribution ...

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Latest on President Donald Trump's Cabinet nominations (all times local). 11:30 a.m. The Senate has given its initial approval to President Donald Trump's choice to lead the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Ben Carson. Carson's actual confirmation vote is likely Thursday. Carson, a celebrated African-American neurosurgeon and candidate in last year's GOP presidential primary, cleared a preliminary Senate hurdle on a bipartisan 62-37 vote. Carson won bipartisan support last month in the Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee. Republicans praised his life story, growing up in inner-city Detroit with a single mother who had a third-grade education. Some Democrats welcomed Carson's promises to address lead hazards in housing, homelessness and other issues. Carson will lead a sprawling ...
Ben Carson, Housing Savant
... there’s a glut of luxury listings on the market even as first-time buyers click around desperately for less expensive homes. For Carson to do anything about this problem as HUD secretary, he’d have to overcome not just his own inexperience, but also the entire worldview of the president who appointed him. In theory, having a real estate developer in the White House should help draw attention to the many barriers to getting new housing built. Trump’s victory delighted homebuilders and construction union chiefs , who like his pledge to reinvest in infrastructure and presume his administration won’t let endangered critters and ephemeral streams get in the way of property development. If it wants, Trump’s administration could tie new funding opportunities to the reduction of regulatory barriers, Herbert notes. Yet it wasn’t the ...
Vote 'no' On Ben Carson
... a betrayal of progressive values. At least Brown could argue that he needed to vote “yes” for political reasons ― he’s up for re-election next year in a state that went heavily for Trump last November. Warren, however, tried to make the argument in response to the fierce criticism about her vote that you sometimes have to “pick and choose your battles”― that you can’t just oppose every single nominee because they were nominated by Donald Trump. I agree that opposition just for the sake of opposition is a bad idea. Her argument, however, might be more effective if she were talking about a less controversial nominee. Ben Carson is among the most extreme, risky, reckless nominees that Donald Trump has put forward since he won the election- and that’s saying something. First of all, Ben Carson has no experience in the areas of housing or urban development, except that he grew up in Detroit, one of the “inner cities” that Trump talked about as “a complete disaster” during his campaign. Not only that, but when there was speculation earlier on that Carson might instead be nominated to run the Health and ...

... were built for grain storage by biblical hero Joseph. But the pair mended their differences and Carson, a retired neurosurgeon, became one of Trump's staunchest supporters as the campaign wore on. Both ran on promises of slashing taxes and replacing Obamacare, and Carson provided a calm counterpoint to Trump's bombast. Carson reportedly turned down a cabinet position shortly after Trump's election in November, saying he was not qualified. But by Dec. 5 he had apparently changed his mind when Trump announced Carson's nomination as Secretary of the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The Detroit native rose from poor surroundings to become director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins at age 33. He also was part of cutting edge work on the separation of twins conjoined at the head. The Senate Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee unanimously approved Carson for the post.
