HOUSTON — Heavy thunderstorms are pounding the Houston area Wednesday, prompting several watches and warnings across the area. A Tornado Warning has been extended until 4 p.m. for Chambers and Liberty counties. The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for southeast portions of the City of Houston, including the Hobby Airport Area, NASA’s Johnson Space Center and Clear Lake until 5:15 p.m. This means flash flooding is occurring in the area due to very heavy rain rates. Houston residents should avoid low-lying areas, and not travel during periods of heavy rain.
