Jeff Probst Reveals Big Change To Voting For 'game Changers' Season

... this season. We spoke to host Jeff Probst in Fiji on day 1 of filming Survivor: Game Changers to get the scoop on a big new change they are implementing when it comes to voting in season 34. “One big twist we’re doing is at Tribal Council, if there’s a tie, there will be no revote,” explains the host. “We will go directly to the tiebreaker. You still have a chance to change your vote.”. So what does this exactly mean and how will it play out? Probst walked us through it. “So we vote, there’s a tie. Great, now here’s what we’re going to do. You’re all going to talk. These two people or these three people have votes. If you can all agree on who to get rid of, we’re done. They go home. ... to become president of the United States, how he approaches that incredible responsibility and the effect that has on him, not only as a person, but his family.". The show also has a new executive producer, Jeff Melvoin,  who breaks Survivor down this way: “The show was effectively pitched as a bit of a three-ring circus, with the conspiracy-thriller aspect kicking it off, the political education of an inexperienced president as the next sphere and the family drama as the third.”. The freshman series averaged 13.5 million viewers last fall, doubling its audience with delayed viewing to make it ABC's top show. But the network, some fans and critics had reservations. "The show has really delivered in terms of plot twists and suspense and a great narrative that keeps you guessing, but we haven’t spent enough time delving into the characters," says ABC Entertainment chief Channing Dungey. "And what we consistently hear from fans is they want to know more about Kirkman, more about his marriage, more about his relationships with the people in the White House. Our expectation was that the balance would be a little bit ...

... battling for their person. ‘I want this person on!” Well, then you better convince everybody. Varner, we had to convince CBS. Ozzy, CBS had to convince us. That’s the truth. And I like that because we hold each other accountable. We all care about this game and we want to make it great, so let’s challenge each other.”. RELATED: Ranking Every Season of Survivor. The truth of the matter is that younger people (of both sexes) are more likely to be picked to compete because they look good in a bathing suit, while older people are more likely to be chosen because of their personality, which means they tend to be more dynamic to watch. But Probst also believes that experience of life naturally makes people more interesting once they put some additional miles on the odometer. “I think when you look at the history of ...

Game Changers' On Being A Last-minute Addition To The Cast

... me that there was another Sierra/Ciera, but it doesn’t. You were a very late addition to the cast when Natalie Anderson had to back out at the last minute. So what was that like. I was a very late addition, so I am super-grateful to be here, but it was crazy. I went out and I did the finals and got the vaccinations and did everything it entailed, and then I got a phone call that they weren’t going to use me, that I was an alternative — so keep living my summer, but be ready. So I went on living my summer. I was actually at a rodeo, a couple of hours from home, got the phone call Friday afternoon, my flight left on Sunday. I had to get everything in order and it was absolutely mayhem. But I’m here and I’m ready to play. Do relationships outside the game carry into the game. I do have real relationships with a couple of these people who are my really good friends, so we’re ...

Probst also insists that even though there were what he has described as “battles” with the network over which contestants to bring back, that ultimately everyone working on the beach is happy with the final casting result. “We just went back and forth, and we have the greatest time because we had 48 people that we originally started with,” says Probst, “and we ended up with 20. So that was a pretty fun process. And painful at times to let people go, and say, ‘I’m not going to win this one. You’re not going to win that one.’ And we ended up with 20 people that can take solace in the fact that everybody wants you to be here. Every producer on the beach is waiting to interview you. And we hope that the fans will trust us that we’re trying to always deliver a good show for you. We’ve been on a pretty good run. We hope you liked Millennials vs. Gen X. Give us a shot on this one.”. Watch the video above to see Probst weigh in on bringing players back ...
