Jenny Slate Gets Real About Her Breakup With Chris Evans

... America. I’m mostly a cartoon. Jenny Slate. “Chris is a very, very famous person,” she told Vulture. “For him to go to a restaurant is totally different than for me to go. I sit in my window and I say ‘Hi’ to people on the street. I have more freedom because I’m not Captain America. I’m mostly a cartoon.”. The attention was too much for Slate, who was also dealing with a divorce from Dean Fleischer-Camp, a film editor and her husband of nearly four years, while she was dating Evans. “This is what I needed to do to feel normal,” she explained. “To be alone.”. Newspix via Getty Images. Chris Evans (R) and actress Jenny Slate (L) arrive at Sydney Airport in Sydney, New South Wales. Slate explains that when she and Evans first met, there were strong friendship vibes, but that was about it. The actress would even get annoyed by Evan’s weekly game nights that he insisted the cast and crew ...

This Is Not A Headline That Will Make Patti Lupone Happy

... Elizabeth Arden and Helena Rubinstein) opens next month. And, because eight shows of bringing the house down per week can wreak havoc on one’s voice, she must take extra good care of her legendary voice. In a conversation with Page Six queen Cindy Adams, Lu Pone revealed her new methods, which include AVOIDING THE SCREAMING, CLASSLESS PUBLIC such as myself. “My teacher taught me a new technique,” she said, offering no details. Though, why would she ever share her secrets? She has a new technique, and you don’t deserve it. What, she’s just gonna give away something she’s worked decades for? You must be absolutely nuts. She also confessed to having “minimal conversations,” because in what world should a diva (I’m using that word with the utmost reverence) be expected to speak to anyone? Speaking of, Cindy, let’s wrap this up. Ms. Lu Pone has other people to see. “And any restaurant,” she added, “must have a quiet ...

Jenny Slate Habla Sobre Su Rompimiento Con Chris Evans

... told Esquire, referring to President Trump's victory. "I feel fury. It's unbelievable. People were just so desperate to hear someone say that someone is to blame. They were just so happy to hear that someone was angry. Hear someone say that Washington sucks. They just want something new without actually understanding. I mean, guys like Steve Bannon — Steve Bannon! — this man has no place in politics.". Evans, who supported Hillary Clinton's presidential bid, isn't shy about politics. He's previously tweeted his disapproval of Jeff Sessions. But the actor told the magazine that he's not worried about his political views affecting how audiences see him. "Look, I'm in a business where you've got to sell tickets," Evans told Esquire. "But, my God, I would not be able to look at myself in the mirror if I felt strongly about something and didn't speak up. I think it's about how you speak up. We're allowed to disagree. If I state ...

Jewish Comedian Jenny Slate On Learning To Love Her Curly Hair
Jewish Comedian Jenny Slate On Learning To Love Her Curly Hair

... hair like Jennifer Love Hewitt in Can’t Hardly Wait—that’s what I wanted my hair to look like. Then, she opens up about being fired from Saturday Night Live and being “so sad that I didn’t want to look at myself or do anything”—which actually allowed her to come to an important realization about her hair. When we came back to the hotel at night, I looked in the mirror and my hair was this giant big mass of curls; I remember thinking, I can’t believe that I have only ever thought of my natural state as something to use as a joke rather than something to be celebrated. Forever I had tried to tame the things that ended up being my greatest powers. That’s the main thing I’ve probably learned in my adulthood: My self in my most natural form is my secret weapon. It’s my warrior garb. She’s quick to give the caveat that she’s still not always confident about her hair, and that sometimes she straightens it as an act of restraint. But she’s realized that in this hostile political environment, she has the right to take up space as a woman, and so does her hair: “this time not as a joke.”. I’m personally inspired by Slate’s comments. For a woman of Ashkenazi descent, my hair is not ...

A few highlights from the competition selection include. “Aardvark,” a drama starring Jenny Slate, Zachary Quinto and Jon Hamm which explores mental illness and romance. “King of Peking,” a Chinese narrative ode to cinema that doubles as a father-son story, following a projectionist who turns to bootlegging films in a bid to retain custody of his son. “Shadowman,” a documentary dubbed as “both a time capsule of a forgotten New York City era, and a redemption story,” about 1980 s street artist Richard Hambleton. In addition to “Shadowman,” many films feature New York City, including “Frank Serpico,” a documentary portrait of the iconic NYPD whistle-blower and “My Art,” a narrative about a city artist (played by Laurie Simmons) who flees to a quieter life upstate. “It’s uncertain and tumultuous times like these that we need ...
