Could The Colts Release Dwayne Allen And Pursue Martellus Bennett
... New England Patriots. The Colts have more pressing roster needs than to worry about trying to sign a player like Bennett, particularly when they already have Allen, Erik Swoope and possibly Jack Doyle (if they’re able to re-sign him) on the roster. Those three tight ends are more than capable of doing the job. You can say Allen probably didn’t have an eye-popping season after signing a four-year, $29 million contract last offseason. He finished with 35 receptions for 406 yards and six touchdowns while playing in 14 games. What doesn’t show up on the stat sheet is Allen’s blocking ability. You can also argue that Doyle had a better season than Allen. But cutting Allen would be a significant shocker, and there hasn't been any indication of that happening. As far as who is the best tight end on the Colts' roster, you can say Doyle and Allen are closer to being No. 1 and No. 1 a than Allen and Fleener were while they were teammates in their first four seasons. That's because Doyle and Allen can both catch and block. Fleener is a pass-catching tight end. Doyle proved last season that he's more than a blue-collar, blocking tight end. He had 59 receptions for 584 yards and five ...

... of being a key role player for the Patriots’ Super Bowl winning team, so he will draw attention. Best fit for Fantasy: Packers | Green Bay tight ends combined for over 100 targets last season, a number Bennett should be able to match on his own. Aaron Rodgers has always loved having a strong tight end in the red zone and would be able to play the matchups between Bennett and his other receivers. He’d be a step up in class from Jared Cook. Jared Cook TE / Green Bay (2016 stats). TAR: 51 REC: 30 YDS: 377 TD: 1. Cook’s never been a counted-upon Fantasy asset, but to be fair, he came to play in the playoffs with 229 yards and two touchdowns on 18 catches. To be fair, he was dominant at the end of the year when he was healthy and the Packers were desperate for receiver help. To be fair, those three postseason games were his best consecutive performances since the end of 2011. Best fit for Fantasy: ...

... what he expected. Pryor signed just a one-year, $8 million contract with the Redskins. To put that deal in perspective, Kenny Britt signed a four-year, $32.5 million contract with the Browns. De Sean Jackson got $33.5 million over three years from the Bucs. Alshon Jeffery got a one-year deal, $14 million deal with the Bears. Sure, Pryor can ball out this year, then enter the market a hot commodity again in 2017. But there's no doubting his payday here is disappointing. Ken Blaze. WINNER: Green Bay Packers. The Packers don't usually make many moves in free agency. Their management prefers to draft and groom their own, then keep them in Green Bay. But Friday, they made a big splash, agreeing to terms with ex-Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett. Sure, this may come at the expense of Jared Cook. But by most counts, Bennett is a superior player, and will be a great ...

... Prince Amukamara became official. That was followed by the re-signing of former Buccaneers second-rounder Johnthan Banks, who's been injury-prone the last couple of seasons and joined the Bears briefly at the end of last year. Then came 6'2 Marcus Cooper, who had four interceptions (one for a touchdown) in a career-high 13 starts for a second-ranked Arizona defense that was stung by injuries to the secondary. His first three seasons were spent amidst another talented defensive backfield in Kansas City, and received a three-year deal from the Bears. That trio joins Tracy Porter, Cre`von Le Blanc, Deiondre Hall, Kyle Fuller, Bryce Callahan, Sherrick Mc Manus, De'Vante Bausby and Jacoby Glenn in a cornerback group that will be heavy on competition, if not another addition at a position that is considered one of the strengths of this year's draft.
