Former Penn State president Graham Spanier was convicted Friday of child endangerment for his role in the sexual abuse scandal involving former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky. In a split verdict, the Pennsylvania jury found that Spanier's handling of a 2001 complaint alleging abuse by Sandusky, warranted conviction on one of three charges against him. The jury did, however, acquit Spanier of conspiracy and a second count of child endangerment, the Associated Press reports. Pennlive reports the case against Spanier as such. "Prosecutors had ...

Share on Twitter Add to Google+ Connect on Linked in Share on Pinterest Subscribe by Email Print This Post. This is truly mind-blowing. Perhaps you’ve been wondering how establishment Republicans were so happy ignoring the looming treason scandal of their President. It very well could be because they, too, have something Russian to hide. So it wasn’t Donald Trump alone who had ties to the Russians during the 2016 campaign. It turns out that the Republican National Committee used a firm with ties to Russian intelligence to dig up dirt on Hillary Clinton. The RNC used former CIA officers’ firm the Hamilton Trading Group, which has “particular expertise” in Russia, to dig up dirt on Clinton according to a Politico report. “RNC officials and the president and co-founder of Hamilton Trading Group, an ex-CIA officer named Ben Wickham, insisted the payments, which eventually totaled $41,500, had nothing to do ...

The Committee Probing The Russia Scandal Has Erupted Into Open Warfare

... committee to protect President Trump may only be increasing Trump’s problems. Today brought some new developments in the saga when Intel Committee Chair Devin Nunes and ranking Democrat Adam Schiff held dueling news conferences. Nunes took what appear to be new steps to shield the committee’s investigation — into Russian meddling and possible collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign — from public view, and Schiff issued some scalding criticism of Nunes that has really pushed hostilities to a higher level. First, the background. On Wednesday, Nunes made an extraordinary visit to the White House to brief the president on new information he said he’d received showing that intelligence agencies had, in the course of surveilling foreign targets, intercepted communications with some Trump associates. Stunningly, Nunes didn’t tell the other members of his committee about it, but instead rushed to inform the person who is himself, indirectly at least, the target of his committee’s investigation. Trump had claimed, absurdly, that President Barack Obama ...

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at a budget committee session of the House of Councilors at the Parliament in Tokyo on March 24, 2017. "It is increasingly unlikely that the scandal will fatally undermine the PM's administration," said Tobias Harris, Japan vice president at Teneo Intelligence, in a Friday note. At the heart of the matter are reports that private educational institute Moritomo Gakuen bought heavily discounted government-owned land in Osaka for an elementary school. Morimoto's $1.2 million payment for the near 9,000 square meter area was a tenth of the cost of similarly sized plots nearby, according to local ...

Scandal’ And ‘grey’s Anatomy’ Dip Vs. Ncaa Sweet 16

... A lot of network audience erosion is a result of the untethering of shows from the linear schedule. Whether it's DVR playback, VOD, or Hulu et al, combined with mobile devices, as this viewing is captured and monetized the networks will offset the traditional ratings declines. For quite a while the dance was, as ratings declined, the CPMs (cost per thousands) for ads would go up. It was the classic law of supply and demand. That is no longer the case, so capturing all viewing to a show will offset a flattening of CPMs. The network syndication goal used to be to get to 100 episodes of a show and sell it to stations or station groups. Basic cable offered another platform, and now we have streaming services. As a result of all this, the old "wait for 100" model has given way to more immediate repurposing of product. Of all the networks The CW exists because of the new rules. There ...

... Solomon's lawyers also noted that Emanuel's office and CPS knew of Byrd-Bennett's relationship to SUPES and "solicited Solomon's assistance in convincing Bennett to join CPS.". Chang ultimately rejected many of Solomon's requests for leniency, which were based on what defense attorneys described as mitigating circumstances that included former Chicago Board of Education President David Vitale 's defense of the training contracts at the core of the government's indictments. Chang referred to emails sent between Solomon and Byrd-Bennett that seemed to make no effort to conceal the alleged kickback scheme. In one message, Byrd-Bennett even implied she needed cash because she had "tuition to pay and casinos to visit," according to the government's charges. In a December 2012 email, Solomon assured Byrd-Bennett that trust accounts had been set up in the names of two of her young relatives, and that they would be funded with a combined $254,000 as a "signing bonus" for ...

Jury Begins Weighing Spanier's Role In Sandusky Scandal

... to alert the authorities, Ditka said. "Their plan resulted in a sea of carnage,” she argued. And she suggested that Curley, Schultz, and Spanier would not have been calling weekend meetings and consulting with the university’s lawyer if they believed that Sandusky was only engaged in “horseplay” with boys in the shower. “Use your common sense. They knew exactly what it was,” she said. Silver said his client conspired with no one to endanger children. The one thing that all witnesses were clear about, he said, is that none of them had evidence that Spanier at any time knew Sandusky was sexually assaulting children. After the 2001 incident, the men agreed to ban Sandusky from bringing children into campus facilities – though that ban was not enforced – to urge Sandusky to undergo counseling, and to alert Second Mile, Sandusky’s charity for at-risk children, about the shower incident. Silver told the jurors that agreeing to a plan ...
